Iris Scott asks Glenda what there is to do in the area, and Glenda tells her that there is a disco in Heathbury.
Iris asks Glenda about the place where she works and asks her if they can go and see it.
Glenda Brownlow and Iris Scott go to the Motel and get some strange looks from Sandy and Doris Luke. Glenda
and Iris sit in reception and Iris asks Glenda who the woman looking at them is. Glenda tells Iris that's Doris Luke
and she works in the kitchen. Doris Luke comes over to their table and Glenda introduces her to her cousin Iris.
A little later, Iris Scott is bored and asks Glenda if they can go to the disco. Glenda says she hasn't got enough
money with her so Iris Scott suggests that she asks Doris Luke to lend her some. Glenda says she doesn't like borrowing
money from people. "I'll go then," says Iris. "You hardly know her," says Glenda. "Oh, I'll go," she adds,
half-heartedly.
Glenda Brownlow goes into the staff room where she finds Doris Luke. Glenda tells Doris that she is a bit embarrassed
but Iris wants to go to the disco and she is a little short of money until she gets paid. She asks Doris Luke if she
could lend her £5. Doris Luke gives her the money and Glenda promises to pay her back as soon as she can.
The following morning, Kath Brownlow asks Glenda what time she got back home last night. Glenda tells her that her
and Iris went to the disco and they weren't back late. Kath asks her how they got back home and Glenda says they got
a taxi. Kath asks where she got the money from and Glenda tells her about borrowing money from Doris Luke.
She says she feels a bit guilty and asks Kath if she could borrow £5 to pay Doris Luke back. Kath gives Glenda the money
and says tells her that she is going to sort that little madam out.
Kath Brownlow calls Iris Scott downstairs. Glenda leaves for work. Kath tells Iris Scott that Glenda
has to be up early in the mornings and can't stay out until all hours. Kath asks Iris about her jobs and Iris tells
her that she has never had a job since leaving school. She tells Kath that she has been on Social Security. Kath
says she can't stay here for nothing and will have to pay her way. "If you and Uncle Arthur couldn't afford to keep
me you shouldn't have offered should you," says Iris.
Eddie Lee receives another visit from Reg Lamont, who gives him details about a planned robbery. Reg Lamont
tells Eddie Lee that they need a driver. "I haven't heard you say yes yet," says Reg Lamont. "You got yourself
a driver," Eddie Lee tells him. "Now you're talking. Pull up a chair and I'll put you in the picture," says Reg
Lamont. Eddie Lee asks what they are stealing and Lamont tells him it's camera lenses worth £100,000.
David and Barbara Hunter arrive in reception after a shopping trip. Lloyd Munro tells them that he would ask them
over to the cottage but it's such a mess he is ashamed to ask anyone. He wonders where he is going to find another Barbara
Brady. Meg tells him that she can't promise another Barbara but she may be able to find someone else.
Ron and Arthur Brownlow settle down at hom to watch some boxing on television. Suddenly from upstairs there
is the sound of music blaring. Iris Scott comes downstairs and asks Arthur Brownlow if they could let her have a dog.
Arthur tells her no.
Eddie Lee asks Victor Lee if it would be alright to use the garaga workshop in the evenings because he has a friend who
is looking for a van and he thought he might be able to do up a van in the garage in his spare time. Victor Lee agrees
that this would be alright.
David tells Meg that Barbara is going to have to go back to Japan to finish her research for her book.
At the Coach House Alison Cotterill chats to Barbara Hunter, Barbara tells her that she doesn't like the thought
of going to Japan. Barbara asks Alison if she was lonely when she stayed at the Coach House on her own, and Alison
says no.
David arrives home at the Coach House and Barbara gives him a drink. They sit down together on the settee and David
asks what Alison is cooking. Barbara tells hhim that Alison is cooking something under her supervision. David
takes her hand. "What am I going to do without you" he says.
David Hunter goes into his room to change and comes back into the living room holding a check shirt on a hanger.
"What's this?" he asks Barbara. "It's your shirt," replies Barbara. David says it isn't his. "You know,
Chris had one just like it," says Barbara. Unseen, Alison Cotterill tiptoes out of the house. "What's Chris's
shirt doing in my wardrobe?" asks David. Barbara goes into the kitchen. "Alison!" she calls, but there is no answer.
The following morning Alison Cotterill arrives at the Coach House. Barbara Hunter tells her that David found a shirt
belonging to Chris in his wardrobe. Alison tells Barbara that she did some laundry for Chris whilst they were away.
Barbara tells Alison that she shouldn't have let Chris take advantage of her kindness.
Barbara Hunter tells David that Alison did some washing for Chris, and David wonders why Chris didn't use the motel laundry
service.
At the motel, David asks Meg if Chris left anything of his at the motel and Meg says if he had she would have sent them
on to him. David asks her if Chris left in a hurry and Meg says Chris mentioned something about seeing some
friends in the area, but they couldn't have lived that far away because Chris kept his chalet and popped back every now and
again.
Kath Brownlow goes to see Meg Mortimer at the motel and Meg introduces her to Lloyd Munro. Meg tells Kath that Lloyd
is looking for a part time housekeeper, and asks Kath if she would be interested in the job. Kath says she would like
to take the job.
Alison Cotterill packs up Chris Hunter's shirt and asks Barbara if she has an address to send it on. Barbara tells
her that she will get the address from David.
Victor Lee tells Sharon Metcalfe that he saw an adver in the paper for a holiday. He suggests they phone up and get
more details but Sharon says no.
