Stan goes to Chimney's where he packs a small bag with some of his belongings. He asks Ingrid Larson to fetch Sarah
Jane from her room and then leaves with his daughter. Stan goes to the garage and tells Sharon Metcalfe that he won't
be in the office tomorrow.
Anthony Mortimer talks to Jill and asks her if Stan will sue. He tells Jill that he wants to help her and asks
her to come to America with him and have the baby there, but Jill tells him that she must sort things out by herself.
Tony Moran goes to see Jim Baines in the garage and asks him to deliver a car the garage is repairing to Kate Hamilton.
He gives Jim a large tip. "Make sure it gets there safely," he says.
David Hunter goes to the cottage and knocks on the door. "See who that is Lucy," says Kate, and Lucy opens the
door. "It's David Hunter," she says. "Can I come in?" asks David. "Yes of course David," says Kate.
David tells Kate that he heard they were flat hunting. "You can't go very far without a car," says David and offers
to drive them. David asks Lucy if she would like to come with them. "Oh, I didn't realise I'd been invited.
Thank you but I think I'll stay home and read," says Lucy, sarcastically, and goes upstairs. "I'm sorry David," says
Kate. "I've obviously done something wrong," says David.
Jim Baines reads a letter which Stan wouldn't sign. He tells Sharon that the letter quotes an estimate of £52 when
it should be at least £80. He too refuses to sign it.
Lucy Hamilton joins her mother downstairs at the cottage once David has left. Kate tells her that she has found
some houses which may be a possibility and David said he would take her to see them in his car. "Do you think Mrs Mortimer
really trusts David Hunter?" asks Lucy. Kate stares at her. "Two weeks ago you were trying to get me to marry
the man. Why have you changed your mind?" asks Kate.
Jill arrives home at Chimney's and Ingrid tells her that Stan left a short time ago with Sarah Jane. "Oh no.
And you let him go!" shouts Jill. Jill telephones Meg and tells her that Stan has taken Sarah Jane, but Meg tells her
that Sarah Jane is in no danger if she is with her father.
Meg arrives back at the motel and David asks her if everything is alright. "Sorry David. You're entitled
to an explanantion," says Meg. "But it's a family matter," says David. "You are family now," says Meg and tells
him about Stan and Jill.
Lucy Hamilton, alone at the cottage, hears a car drive up. She answers the knock at the door and finds Jim Baines.
Jim gives her a letter and tells her that the car in the drive is for Mrs Kate Hamilton. Lucy thanks him and puts the
letter for her mother on the desk. After Jim has left Lucy opens the letter and reads it.
Kate Hamilton arrives back at the cottage and Lucy gives her the letter and tells her about the car. "Why did you
open the letter?" asks Kate. "I recognised the writing," says Lucy. Kate tells her that she used to drive the
car when she worked at the casino. "It's rather an expensive present isn't it," says Lucy. Kate telephones Tony
Moran and tells him that she can't accept the car. Tony says she needs a car. He asks her to have dinner with
him so that he can explain the reason for the gift. Kate says she can't leave Lucy but asks him to come to the cottage
instead. "Oh Mum. He can twist you round his little finger can't he," says Lucy.
Tony Moran arrives at the cottage and he and Kate have a drink. Tony tells her that she is under no obligation
if she accepts the car.
Stan Harvey arrives at the garage and notices a letter on his desk. Sharon tells him that Jim wouldn't sign it
because the estimate was wrong. Stan tells Jim that he could have used his initiative and corrected the quote.
Jim just stares at him then walks out of the office without a word. Sharon tells Stan that whilst he was away from the
office Jim has kept the business going. "He's been great, so don't talk to him about initiative," she says.
Lucy Hamilton joins her mother downstairs at the cottage once Tony Moran has left. "Tony Moran's only after
what he can get. He wants you. He's always wanted you. Why don't you ask him to stay the night, and get
it over with," says Lucy and runs out of the room sobbing.
