Harry and Ira Turvey return to Cyril Watkins' shop and Cyril tells them that there was a phone call from New Zealand whilst they were out.  Ira looks at Harry and asks Cyril if there was any message.  Cyril Watkins tells them that Peter said he had received the cable and is looking forward to seeing them.  Harry Turnvey tells Cyril that he and Ira are going to New Zealand to settle down out there. 
 
Barbara Brady tells Sandy that she does her research for her books by taking jobs such as housekeeper for Lloyd Munro and then writing real life people as characters into her books.  Barbara tells Sandy that he musn't let on who she is.  Sandy asks Barbara what her next book is about.  Barbara tells him it is about an elderly doctor who discovers that his young wife has fallen in love with a younger doctor colleague and the elderly doctor decides to poison the younger doctor, but the wife then falls out of love with the younger doctor and is in love with someone else so she decides to poison the younger doctor. 
 
Cyril Watkins asks his daugter Ira Turvey how long they have been planning on going to New Zealand, and Ira says they haven't known for long.  "What about me?  Have you any idea what you're doing to me.  When I think how long I planned and saved to get this place, for you," says Cyril.
 
Sharon Metcalfe behaves very cooly towards Victor Lee and tells him that he had no right to storm in and try to ruin things between her and Geoffrey Foster.  Victor Lee tells her that Foster is misleading her.  He tells Sharon about the gold lighter, and Sharon says it was obviously a genuine mistake, and it won't change anything.
 
After he finishes work, Victor Lee goes to the Foster's home.  Becky Foster opens the door and ivites him in.  Victor Lee apologises to her for leaving the meal the previous evening.  Becky guesses that he is here about Sharon and ger father.  She tells Victor that after he had left her father gave Sharon a present, and when she came into the room they were kissing.  "You know I can't remember the last time I saw dad kissing my mother," says Becky. 
 
Cyril Watkins goes to the doctors surgery for treatment on his varicose veins.  He tells Marion Owen that Ira and Harry are going over to New Zealand to settle out there and it has come as a bit of a shock.  Marion Owen says she thinks Ira and Harry are doing the right thing.
 
Geoffrey Foster returns home and finds Victor Lee there with Becky.  He tells Victor that Becky is very impressionable.  He asks Becky to leave the room, so Becky leaves the two men alone.  Geoffrey Foster tells Victor Lee that he has no right to turn his daughter against him, and if he interferes anymore he will have to be taught a lesson.  "I don't like violence myself but I understand these things can be arranged.  Whatever I decide I can't see you coming out of it very well," Geoffrey Foster tells Victor Lee.
 
Marion Owen goes into John Farnham's consulting room and tells him that Miss Brady has been sitting in her car for the last half hour.  She asks the doctor if he will see Miss Brady even though she hasn't got an appointment, and John Farnham asks her to show Barbara in.  Barbara goes into John Farnham's consulting room and tells him that she was just passing.  She says he is the only man who has ever asked her out once, and John says she is the only woman he has ever asked out only once. 
 
Benny goes to see David and Meg in the motel office and David tells Benny that he already knows that the motel are buying some farm land, and he asks Benny if he would like to work on the farm.  "Oh yes please Mr Hunter," says Benny.  David asks him about his job at the garage and Benny tells him that he is supposed to be learning to be a mechanic.  "But it takes so long, and I don't think I've got that long before I die," says Benny, very seriously.  David laughs and then turns it into a cough.  Benny leaves the office and pops his head around the door as he leaves.  "Anytime you want me, I'll be ready," he says. 
 
Lloyd Munro has breakfast at the cottage with Barbara Brady.  He notices that she is a little preoccupied and when he asks Barbara what is wrong she tells him that her plots aren't working.  "Plots?" asks Lloyd.  "Everyone plots.  A housewife plots her shopping with bus routes.  Murderers or murderesses plot how to put poison in the soup," says Barbara.  Lloyd gulps.  "You're not thinking of murdering me, are you?" asks Lloyd.  "Doctor Munro, how could you be so morbid," exclaims Barbara.  "There are some doctors far more unkind," she says.  "Oh, who?" asks Lloyd.  "Farnham," answers Barbara. 
 
Reg Cotterill talks to David Hunter in the office and David says he understands he knows Sandy.  Reg says Mrs Ash spoke very highly of Sandy.  David says Sandy has spoken very highly of Reg too, and thinks it would be a good idea for Reg to farm the land for them.  Reg Cotterill says he would need help.  Reg offers to show David the land.  "When?" asks David enthusiastically.  "Now," suggests Reg Cotterill.  "One thing though.  I'd change out of that suit if I were you," says Reg.
 
Lloyd Munro goes to see Meg at the motel and tells her that Barbara Brady has been talking about poisons again.  Meg says Barbara is an excellent housekeeper and he keeps imagining these things. 
 
Ira Turvey tells Cyril Watkins that she will pay him back the £100 they owe him by selling the fur coat Harry gave her. 
 
David Hunter goes to the office dressed in jeans, and drops exhausted into a chair.  He pulls of his wellington boots which are caked in mud.  He puts one foot on the desk.  Meg comes into the office at that moment and asks him how his walk on the land went.  David shows her a muddy wellington boot and Meg pulls a face.  David tells her that the land is good.
 
Meg tells David that Rosemary phoned whilst he was out.  "Why didn't you tell me you weren't going on holiday this year?" asks Meg.  "Excuse me," says David and reaches across the desk for a newspaper.  He spreads the newspaper on the floor and begins to scrape the mud from his boots.  Meg tells him that he should go on holiday.
 
Ira Turvey goes to the doctors surgery and chats to Marion Owen.  She tells Marion that she is worried about leaving her father.  Marion Owen tells her that she should stop feeling so guilty.  Ira asks Marion if she would go and see her father when they have gone just to make sure he is alright.
 
Meg persuades David to take a holiday in Switzerland.
 
Victor Lee asks Sharon Metcalfe out to dinner that evening but Sharon says she has a previous engagement which she can't break.  Victor Lee tells Sharon that he has spoken to Becky Foster and she said she couldn't remember the last time she saw her father kiss her mother.  He says Sharon has this idea that she ruined a deep, loving relationship but it was never that.  Sharon says that doesn't mean anything at all.
