Jane tells Carney about what she found out about the picture of Howard Coates' brother. Carney says he might
be trying to keep it a secret and he has got a right to his privacy.
The following day, Bill Warren goes to David Hunter's office. David asks him if he sold a bottle of scotch to Archie
Gibbs and Bill says he didn't. "Archie Gibbs said he bought it at the motel," says David. Bill says Archie Gibbs
isn't very reliable. "We'll just have to check the bar list, won't we," says David. "Yes, well, I didn't think
about that," says Bill.
Archie Gibbs tells Carney that Bill Warren is telling everyone that he didn't sell him the bottle of scotch and making
him out to be a liar. Archie says the police have been looking for his car keys which he threw out of the window and
Carney tells him that he found some car keys and handed them into the garage.
Stan tells Sandy that he needs a secretary to do all the paperwork and asks Sandy if he could get onto an employment
agency.
Archie Gibbs and Carney sneak into the garage and look for Archie's car keys. Archie takes the keys from Stan's
desk drawer but Jim Baines comes in. "Hey what are you doing here?" he asks. Archie makes up a story about
them wanting a lift from him.
Avis tells Sandy that Jane phoned the newspaper to try and get a copy of the picture of Howard Coates brother and that
she found out the newspaper closed ten years ago. Sandy says Jane is blowing all this out of proportion and there is
probably a very simple explanation.
David Hunter checks the bar stock whilst Bill Warren watches. He finds that there are no bottles of scotch missing
and Bill breathes a sigh of relief, but David says Bill could have easily replaced the bottle. He says he is going to
check the cellar stock. Jane Smith calls David away and tells him that Mr Booth would like to see him urgently.
Archie Gibbs and Carney join Bill Warren at the bar and Bill tells them that David Hunter is going to check the cellar
stock and that he will find one bottle of scotch missing. Archie tells Bill to stall David Hunter for about half an
hour. Bill talks to Avis and tells her to keep Mr Hunter busy for about half an hour, but Avis says that unless he tells
her what is going on she won't do it.
Bill asks Sandy to do him a favour and explains that it is vital that David Hunter doesn't go to the cellar for half
an hour. At that moment David returns. "Shall we go?" asks David. "Where?" asks Bill. "To the cellar,"
says David. Sandy tells David that he wants to talk to him and asks him to come to the office right away. David
reluctantly follows Sandy through to the office.
Benny shows Diane a cheque for £500 which Mrs Burrell gave him so that he could buy her ticket to America.
David and Sandy go into the office and David tells Sandy that he is supposed to be checking the cellar stock. Sandy
says they ought to work out the staff holiday roster but David tells him that it is only the middle of March and far too early.
David makes to leave but Sandy tells him that he would like to book his holiday. "You're a widely travelled man.
If you could explain every holiday in detail, and show me some of your snapshots," says Sandy.
Archie Gibbs gives Bill Warren a bottle of scotch to put into the cellar and Bill rushes off to the cellar.
Later, David returns from checking the cellar bar stock and tells Bill that there is nothing missing. "I knew there
wouldn't be," says Bill.
David and Howard Coates listen to a tape recording of Howard's orchestra. Howard says he makes Jane Smith feel
uneasy. He says she is a bit neurotic about her faith. David says he hopes Jane hasn't been bothering him but
Howard says not at all.
Benny returns from visiting Clover Hawkins at the home and tells Ed and Diane that his gran has never been happier
and wants to stay in the home.Ed tells Mrs Burrell that his gran wants to stay in the home and won't be moving into her caravan.
Mrs Burrell says she can easily sell her caravan to someone else.
