Crossroads star Nigel Williams dashed down a motorway to stop oncoming cars slamming into a pile-up.  The plucky actor frantically waved a white pullover as he risked his life to flag down traffic.

Two cars that roared past him ploughed into the wreckage.  But Nigel managed to stop others in time.

The drama happened when a car burst a tyre on the M6 at Coleshill, Warwickshire.  It careered across all three southbound lanes, causing a series of crashes.  Nigel and co-stars Ron Allen and Sue Lloyd who were travelling seperately, all escaped unhurt from the ten car smash.
