Background

Anthony Terpiloff co-authored 'Death's Other Dominon' with Elizabeth Barrows.

The final draft was completed by August 23rd, 1974, and a full shotting script five days later.

Filming for the episode began on Wednesday, September 11th 1974.

Keith Wilson collected materials found around the studio lot, which were covered in foam to construct the large ice caves set.  Formaldehyde was used to create the snow and gave off an unpleasant odour that both Martin Landau and Barbara Bain took exception to when they arrived on set.

Shooting was due to start the following day and as a safety measure a public health inspector was called and he decided that there was no danger from the fumes.  However, the Landaus were still unhappy and refused to work under such conditions, causing Gerry Anderson to consult a Harley Street physician to do an inspection.  Satisfied with the health and safety aspects he passed it okay.

The Landaus called in their own expert who considered the strong smell unacceptable.  It took much persuasion and the installation of a large vacuum pump that would clear the air between takes to get Martin and Barbara to do the episode.

The crew used a spray gun to create blizzard conditions and promptly removed skin from Martin Landaus face.
