Moonbase Alpha Status Report: 640 days after leaving Earth orbit

Alan Carter and Andy 'Bluey' Johnson are searching for dylanide crystals in caves below the lunar surface, but as the laser begins to cut through the rock they uncover the bodies of a man and a young boy sealed in a glass chamber.  Alan thinks he see's the man's eyes open and when he touches the chamber he receives a shock, rendering him unconscious.

Doctor Helena Russell, Doctor Raul Nunez and Tony Verdeschi come to the caves to investigate further.  The doctors discover that the two aliens are alive, but held in stasis.  At that moment the cave roof begins to collapse, shattering the glass chamber and freeing the aliens, who collapse.  Tony Verdeschi and Bluey Johnson rescue the man and Alan rescues the young boy before the cave-in buries them.

The two aliens recover in the Medical Centre of Moonbase Alpha.  Helena and Tony inform Commander John Koenig, who is on a survey mission with Maya, of the situation and he instructs them to treat the aliens as an X factor until they can find out more about them.  At that moment the two aliens arrive in Command Centre, and ask them what they would like to know.

Pasc introduces himself and his son Etrec, and tells the Alphan's that they are Archanon's. Maya recognises the name Archanon as being the Planet of Peace, and tells of the legend of the Peace Bringers, the conquest of evil by good.  Pasc tells Helena that violence was outlawed on Archanon, and they sent emissaries throughout the universe so others might see how it was done.

Pasc says he was commander of such a mission, and his mission ended on Earth, where all his crew were affected by the humans madness, and mutinied.  He and Etrec were the only ones who escaped contagion, and they were overpowered, and placed in stasis.  Pasc tells them that the taking of any form of life is abhorent to Archanon's.

Doctor's Russell and Nunez discover a virus in Pasc's sputum, and the same virus in Etrec's, however in the boy the virus is dormant.

The power unit from the cave has been taken to the laboratory but Tony Verdeschi is unable to open it.  Bluey tracks down Alan Carter and Etrec playing football in the corridor, and they join Tony in the laboratory.  Pasc joins them and Etrec tells Tony that Pasc would know how to open it as he was the commander of the mission.

Pasc opens the power unit and takes out a monitor transmitter which is used to locate Etrec and Pasc.  They are interupted by Helena Russell calling for Etrec and Pasc to be sent to Medical, but instead of going to medical, Pasc knocks out an Eagle pilot and he and Etrec make their way to the travel tube taking them to the launchpad.  They are intercepted by a security guard who offers to take them to the Medical centre.

In the laboratory Alan and Bluey continue to investigate the power unit.  Alan inserts a key and discovers a recording made by Pasc.  Pasc and Etrec pass the laboratory and Bluey asks them to take a look at what they have discovered.  Pasc attacks Bluey and Alan leaving them both unconscious, grabs Etrec and runs.

Tony Verdeschi contacts Helena Russell, asking her to attend Bluey who has been injured in the laboratory.  On her way, Pasc intercepts her and takes Helena hostage.  Etrec runs to Alan Carter's side, and Pasc threatens to kill Helena unless Etrec is returned to him.  Tony tells Pasc to let Helena go otherwise he will kill Etrec, but Pasc tells him to go ahead.  Tony is unable to carry out his threat, but Pasc says he can kill Helena.  Etrec tells them that the mark on Pasc's forehead is the sign of the killing sickness.

Pasc tells Etrec to come with him, but Etec tells him that he is staying with the Alphans.  Pasc takes Helena to the Eagle, but cannot take off as the launchpad has been deactivated.  Helena tells Pasc about the virus they found in his system, and that they may be able to create a serum to help them.

Pasc calls Tony and tells him that he will let Helena go if Etrec is returned to him.  Helena begins to tell Tony to give a message to Doctor Raul Nunez but Pasc cuts her off.  Tony contacts Raul to ask him if he might know what Helena was trying to say, and Raul says they discovered a virus and perhaps Helena wanted them to get a sample of Etrec's blood in order to make a serum.

Tony asks Alan to get Etrec to change his mind and go with Pasc.  Alan finds Etrec in the recreation centre and tells Etrec that they have a big problem; Pasc will kill Dcotor Russell unless he gets him back.  Alan tells him that they think Doctor Russell wants them to get a sample of his blood to make a serum against the killing sickness, but Etrec tells him that Archanon's cannot give blood, an Archanon can only kill.

Etrec picks up a knife and is about to attack Alan, but he cannot do it.  Instead, Etrec cuts the sign of the killing sickness from his forehead.  Etrec shows his bloodied hands and tells Alan that this blood is his.

Tony Verdeschi receives a call from an Archanon ship asking for permission to land.  The woman tells him that two Archanon's have been freed from restraint and may be a danger to them.  Alan gives the woman permission to land.

Alan Carter shows Tony the message discovered on the power unit from Lyra, Pasc's wife and Etrec's mother.  It tells how Pasc had developed the killing sickness, and he and Etrec were left in stasis on the Moon in anticipation of a cure for the killing sickness.  Tony patches through the message to Pasc waiting with Helena on the Eagle.

Raul and Alan tell Pasc that Etrec has given some blood.  Raul tells Helena that Etrec seems incapable of replacing the blood he has lost and unless Pasc can give him a blood transfusion, Etrec will die.  Helena tries to convince Pasc that the killing sickness can be cured, if they can take a sample of his blood, treat it with the serum and then transfuse it into Etrec.

Pasc tells Helena Russell that she is free to leave.  Helena accuses him of leaving his son to die, and convinces Pasc to return to Alpha for a blood transfusion.  Pasc gives Etrec his blood and Etrec survives, but Pasc begins to fail.

Maurna, a kinswoman of Lyra, is brought to the Medical Centre.  She tells Helena that no Archanon can give the amount of blood Pasc has given, and live.  Pasc tells Helena that it is the last privilege of the killing sickness, to kill oneself.
