DAVID HUNTER (Crossroads, ATV).  Age: 45. Educated: Grammar School. Divorced. One son.  Job: hotelier.  Hobbies: music, poetry, gardening.

Personable and efficient, David Hunter can solve any problem - that is not his own.

As Meg Mortimer's good looking business partner he's a success, just off duty he flounders.  Those he loves he loses.

He lost his parents in the war.  David was shipped to an uncle and aunt in Guernsey where he began his training in their hotel kitchens.

He did two and a half years National Service - he was a 2nd Lieutenant in Malaysia - returned and married Rosemary.

They moved to the West Indies where her money set them up in the hotel business.  David worked hard while Rosemary played - with his business partner.

Returning to England and buying into the Crossroads motel was David's bid to salvage their marriage.

Since their divorce he's met and lost a succession of birds, notably secretary Anne, sophisticated Laura and now he's booted journalist Kelly off to the Brazilian jungle.

When he's not working lovelorn David listens to music and reads poetry in his motel quarters.

He does crossword puzzles.  He likes to garden.  He can make anything grow - except relationships.
