TV stars yesterday paid tribute to Crossroads heart-throb Ronnie Allen - famed as motel manager David Hunter.  A London memorial service for Allen, who died from cancer in June, was held on what would have been his 57th birthday.

His widow Sue Lloyd said: "It was a beautiful service.  I will always remember him for the gentleman he was."  The couple married in May.  Their real life romance was mirrored by an 11 year soap courtship.

Jane Rossington - Crossroads favourite Jill Chance for 24 years - said: "I will always remember the twinkle in his eye."

Sue Hanson - Diane Parker - added: "I'm glad I was here today.  It showed how much he was loved by family, friends and fans."
