The Adventures of Robin Hood was a popular British Television series aired between 1955 and 1960, and
starring Richard Greene as Robin Hood and Alan Wheatley as the Sheriff of Nottingham.
The programme was produced by Sapphire Films Ltd for ITC Entertainment, and was filmed at Nettlefold Studios. It
was the first of many big-budget shows commissioned by Lew Grade.

Writers Ring Lardner Jr and Ian McLellan Hunter were blacklisted in Hollywood and wrote almost the entire first season
under a variety of pen-names.
Archie Duncan was replaced by Rufus Cruikshank for ten episodes after he had been injured saving two child actors from
a runaway horse.
The famous title song was sung by Dick James who was later to become John Lennon and Paul McCartney's music publisher.
