Moonbase Alpha Status Report: 1503 days after leaving Earth

A cloud with strange characteristics appears near Moonbase Alpha. Depression,
lassitude and loss of will begins to incapacitate many of Alpha's personnel, including Commander Koenig.
Eagle 6 has been sent out to investigate the cloud, and bring back particles for analysis in the hope
that Medical could make a diagnoisis and formulate an antidote. But Eagle 6 fails to return from its mission.
Suddenly, long after its fuel has been exhausted, Eagle 6 reappears above Moonbase Alpha and lands,
but Maya's instruments pick up no life forms onboard Eagle 6. Tony Verdeschi, Bill Fraser and three security guards board
the Eagle and are met by an alien creature, which attacks them.
Bill Fraser and Tony Verdeschi escape into the travel tube and make their
way back to Command Centre. Tony posts two security guards outside the travel tube with orders to fire at anything that
comes out of the tube.
In Command Centre a voice comes from the cloud, and announces that it wants
Alpha's life support system. The voice allows the Alphan's to watch the security guards posted outslde the travel tube
as they battle in vain against the creature. Tony orders Sandra Benes and Maya to the Medical Centre for safety, and
orders the computer to lock all doors and open them only on his voice command.
Tony Verdeschi orders Bill Fraser to life support to set up a defence whilst
he tries to decoy the creature. Tony heads for Tech Lab. 5 to try to coax the creature into the vacuum chamber.
Tony manages to trick the creature into the vacuum chamber and shuts it inside, but when he re-opens the chamber he finds
the creature is still alive. The creature chases Tony down the corridor.
Maya transforms into a mouse and reaches the corridor where Tony is battling
the creature through the air vent. Maya transforms into a creature and attacks the other creature, but is unable to
defeat it. Tony turns a high pressure carbon dioxide hose onto the creature, knocking it off its feet long enough
to allow them to get away.
Tony and Maya go to the Medical Centre where they find that Helena Russell
has succumbed to the illness. She suggests a high potency tranquilliser administered by a high pressure injector gun.
She says it is the most powerful drug they have, too powerful for a human being.
Tony and Maya track the creature which is headed for Life Support,
and Tony sets off the Red Alert alarm which seems to confuse the creature. Tony calls to the creature using the
commposts to further confuse it.
Maya suggests Tony tries to steer the creature towards the Hydroponics Experimental Section so that
she can try to coax the creature into a chlorine chamber. Meanwhile, Alan Carter tells Bill Fraser to set up a
heavy duty electrical barrier across the corridor leading to Life Support. Expert Sandra Benes instructs Fraser
on how to build the electrical barrier.
Tony Verdeschi joins Maya at the Hydroponics Section
and she tells Tony that she will transform into a chlorine-breathing creature from the planet Kreno in order to lure the creature
into the chlorine chamber. Once inside the chlorine chamber Maya injects the powerful tranquilliser into
the creature but neither the drug nor the chlorine have any effect.
Tony tells Maya that there is one way they can get on an equal footing with the creature, that is
for Maya to become one, but Maya says she has tried to transform into a similar creature but its molecular structure eludes
her. Tony says there is one thing they haven't tried, that is to destroy the cloud which seems to control
over the creature.
Tony and Maya make their way to the Weapons Section where they fire the laser gun at the centre of
the cloud. A diamond shape appears within the cloud and begins to split into two halves. Tony and Maya think they
have succeeded but the two halves join together again. Realising that they will not succeed this way, Tony and
Maya join Bill Fraser in the corridor where he has completed his electrical barrier.
The three of them await the arrival of the creature. The creature
takes hold of the electrical barrier, which explodes, but the creature survives. They realise that the creature will
soon break through the barrier. Tony, sensing that the creature has defeated them, turns to Maya and declares his
love for her.
Tony wonders how any life-form can take that amount of damage and Maya
realises that the creature is not a life-form, but a robot. The creature breaks through the barrier and Fraser fires
a rocket gun at it, but it continues after them. Fraser and Tony try to fight the creature, and in the ensuing fight,
Fraser is knocked unconscious.
Tony tries to overcome the creature but the creature manages to remove
the life support core. Maya transforms into a bee and enters the creatures ear to try to get at its control centre.
She manages to short circuit its control centre, and the creature collapses. Tony replaces the Life Support system core
to its rightful place.
The cloud diminishes in size.
