Crossroads on DVD
Mood:  happy
Topic: Memories

It is so brilliant that Crossroads has been released on DVD.  I have such wonderful memories of Crossroads, and with the release of the first four volumes of DVD's and now the archive releases from Network Dvd I can relive all those teenage memories.

It is also fantastic that I can share my love of Crossroads with so many other people via the Crossroads Appreciation Society website and Forum.

Of course when I first started watching Crossroads in 1974 when I was 13 (!) I could not have even contemplated trawling the Internet for Crossroads-related sites - the Internet wasn't around (or if it was it wasn't so easily availaible to the average person).  Little did I realise that when I was madly scribbling my notes whilst watching the programme (and gorgeous Ronnie Allen, who I was madly in love with at the time), that all these years later I would be transferring these notes onto my own website.  Quite unbelievable really when I sit down and think about it.

Now I have got the taste for building websites my next project is going to be a site dedicated to Ronnie Allen.  I haven't got the expertise to do my own website from scratch so I will use good ole tripod/lycos.  Watch this space!

On the domestic front.  Jersey has received a battering from those awful gales which swept the south of England at the start of the week.  We have an esplanade area just outside of town which is quite spectacular when the waves are coming over the top of the sea wall.  On Monday evening, at the height of the storm, the sea wall along the esplanade was washed away so it looked a bit like a war zone.  Very weird.  Some areas of the island suffered flooding.  Today is calm, thank goodness.

Ronald Allen's former London home
Whilst I was in London I took the opportunity to visit Ronald Allen's former London home at 13 Northbourne Road, Clapham.  I have included a photo below.

University Application

Well, my university application to study Physiotherapy has been completed and sent to UCAS so now all I have to do it wait.

My choices were Brunel, University of East London, St. Georges, University of Plymouth, and the University of East Anglia.

Brunel University have already turned me down although I'm not too bothered about that because apparently it's not a very nice place.

Hoping that the University of Plymouth give me an offer as they did last year.  I couldn't take up my place last year but am raring to go in September 2008.  Sounds such a long time away.  Plymouth would be good as it's by the sea and I think I would feel right at home there.

St Georges's would be good for two reasons - it's a medical school and teaching hospital and it's in London and I LOVE London.  East Anglia is in Norwich which is a nice part of the country and close to two former schoolfriends of mine from Jersey who now live in the UK.

The Osmonds
Mood:  happy
Topic: Announcements

I have just booked a ticket to see The Osmonds at Wembley arena next May !  Yes the Osmonds.  I was a massive fan in my teen years and it will be a wonderful trip down memory lane for me.

They are doing a series of concerts in the UK celebrating 50 years in show business.  This is the first time that all the Osmond brothers and Marie wil have appeared together for 27 years.

December trip to London

Next trip to London is booked for the beginning of December.  This will be my third trip to London this year - but I do love the place.  Such a change to Jersey where nothing much happens.

I've got tickets for the Blackrock Masters tennis which is held at the Royal Albert Hall.  It's the seniors tour featuring the old boys of tennis such as John McEnroe, Goran Ivanisevic, Pat Cash and many more.  I'm going to two sessions - Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. As it's indoors there is no problem with the weather.

Wimbledon Trip & Concert for Diana

Well, I had a good trip to London.  Did lots of sightseeing, although it was a bit scary after the failed bomb which was planted in a car in the Theatre District.  I was going to see Les Miserables that evening and this was right by the area where the bomb was planted.  But it didn't stop me.  You can't let terrorists stop you living your life, otherwise they've won.

Wimbledon - ummm.  Saw once match between Amelie Mauresmo and another woman whose name escapes me.  Then it was due to be Rafael Nadal, who I specifically wanted to see...then it rained!  No further play that day.  Never mind.  It was a bit disappointing but there's always next year!

The concert for Diana was superb.  Wembley Stadium is an awesome place and it was a trully memorable occasion.  And the rain stayed away! Click here for photos Link to Photo Album Concert For Diana .

Wimbledon starts on Monday.  That's my afternoon viewing sorted out.

I'm on Centre Court on Saturday June 30th, so watch out for me in the crowd!  I only hope it doesn't rain.

This London trip will be busy...Les Miserables in the West End on Friday night...Wimbledon on Saturday... Diana concert on Sunday.  Will need a holiday afterwards to recover!!

Got tickets today for the Blackrock Masters tennis at the Royal Albert Hall in December.

I went to this tournament, which is for veterans, for the first time last December and enjoyed it immensely.  A totally different experience to Wimbledon.  For a start, it's indoors so it doesn't matter what the weather is doing outside!  It always manages to rain when I go to Wimbledon.

Concert For Diana

Topic: Concert For Diana

Logged onto the Wembley Stadium website and booked tickets for the Concert For Diana which is taking place at Wembley on Sunday 1st July, 2007.  All seated tickets so I am ok about going.  Didn't fancy taking my chances in a standing-room only gig - I'd be a bit scared of being squashed in the crowd.  Looks like there will be some good acts, including Take That, Duran Duran, Tom Jones (!) and Lily Allen.
