Iris Scott goes to the Brownlow's home and asks Ron why he didn't answer her letters.  Ron tells her that he doesn't get much time for writing letters, besides he didn't know how to.  He tells Iris that it is no good, there is too much of an age difference between them.  Iris tells Ron that now she has seen him again she knows that she loves him, but Ron tells her that she only thinks she does.
 
Kevin and Glenda Banks go to the clinic and talk to the doctor about the possibility of them having a test tube baby. 
 
Ashley Lamont telephones the motel reception and asks Barbara Hunter if he could speak to Kate Hamilton, but Barbara tells him that she isn't in at the moment.  Ashley asks if it would be alright if he came over to the motel in about fifteen minutes, and if he could see Kate Hamilton alone in their office.
 
Later, Ashley Lamont comes into the motel office in his police uniform accompanied by a woman police officer, and finds David Hunter and Kate Hamilton in the office.  Ashley Lamont tells David that he was hoping to see Mrs Hamilton alone and David says he will go if requested.  Ashley Lamont looks at Kate and tells her it is up to her.  Kate looks at David meaning for him to stay.
 
Ashley Lamont tells Kate Hamilton that his superintendant says that there is a case to answer and they would like her to come to the station.  He tells kate that it would be best if she didn't say anything now.  "Then will you say something to me.  What will the charge be?" asks David. 
 
The doctor at the clinic tells Kevin and Glenda Banks that she is going to recommend them for a baby but warns them that hers is not the final decision.
 
Barbara Hunter finds Kath Brownlow sobbing in the motel bar and asks her what is wrong.  Barbara tells Kath that she shouldn't have come back to work so soon.  Kath says it's not that, it's this baby that Kevin and Glenda are trying for, she just can't get used to it, it's so unnatural.  Barbara says she thinks it's wonderful, just think of all the women who thought they couldn't have children.  Barbara tells Kath that Glenda's happiness might depend on this baby.
 
Kate Hamilton tells David and Barbara that she has been charged with manslaughter.
 
Reg Lamont searches through a bag for something.
 
Kath Brownlow tells Glenda and Kevin that it is their life and she has no right to interfere, so she is prepared to accept their wanting a test tube baby.  She says they are going to need money, and Kevin tells her that it is going to cost about £2000.  Ron Brownlow tells Kevin and Glenda thathe will lend them the money, it is his present to them as long as he is godfather.  Kevin and Glenda thank him and Kevin tells Ron that he will only think of it as a loan.
 
Ashley Lamont corners his father in reception and asks him for a word.  They go into the motel bar.  Ashley tells Reg that there will be charges against Linda Nolan.  Reg tells Ashley that he knows what is coming but he never thought Ashley would do it.
 
Ashley Lamont goes to the Brownlow's house and tells Kath Brownlow that they have found the person who killed her husband.  Kevin Banks asks if it was one of the Bowls club members and Ashley tells him no, it was a woman, Linda Nolan. 
 
Reg Lamont goes to Sharon and Diane's flat and finds Sharon there on her own.  He asks her if she has seen Ashley and Sharon says she saw him earlier.  Reg tells Sharon that he saw Ashley earlier and they talked.  He tells her that Ashley has taken away his passport. 
 
Iris Scott arrives at the Brownlow's house and tells Ron that she heard he was leaving.  They go out to the motel for a drink together. 
 
Ashley Lamont goes to see Sharon Metcalfe at her flat and Sharon asks him why he took his father's passport.  Ashley tells her that the passport was in his father s chalet and he thought it was silly to leave it lying around so he took it for safe-keeping.  Ashley tells Sharon that he is only doing his job.  "Don't talk to me about your job," says Sharon.
 
Ron Brownlow and Iris Scott have a drink at the motel bar.  Iris tells Ron that she wants to come with him, there is nothing to keep her here.  Ron tells her that he should have told her before but there is someone else, a girl in Aberdeen. 
 
Reg Lamont takes some cans of beer into the garage staff room, and he, Sid Hooper and Joe MacDonald sit drinking.  Reg asks Joe how things are with him and his wife and Joe says he misses Trina and Benjamin.  Reg Lamont tells Joe to get his son back and keep him close.  Reg tells Sid and Joe that in the new year they are going to get £10 a week extra.  He takes out a wad of notes and gives them both a Christmas bonus. 
 
Jill Harvey tells Paul Ross that Georgina Moran is leaving.  Paul Ross goes into reception where he see's Georgina Moran.  Georgina tells Paul that she is going to Canada with Richard Lord.  "I'll let you know when we've fixed a date for the wedding," she says. 
 
Iris Scott goes to see Benny in the garage to says goodbye before she goes back to London. 
 
Georgina Moran goes to the office to see David Hunter before she leaves.  She asks David to telephone her in Canada as soon as things are settled in Kate Hamilton's case, and David promises to phone straight away.  Georgina tells David that Richard Lord may answer the phone and David says he will still phone.  Georgina Moran tells David that Richard Lord bears him no malice, not now.  She says they may even come back here for their honeymoon.  David wishes her and Richard luck.
 
Reg and Ashley Lamont meet at Sharon Metcalfe's flat and Sharon begs Ashley Lamont not to turn his father in.  She tells Reg that Ashley has been working up to this ever since his father arrived, and has even been recording their conversations on tape.  Sharon faces Ashley and asks him if he is going to deny it.  "You know, I wouldn't be surprised if his little tou wasn't in operation right at this moment," says Sharon.  She leans across to Ashley, searches in the pocket of his uniform and takes out a mini recorder.  She switches it off, and throws it onto the settee.  Reg Lamont stares at Ashley.
 
Kate Hamilton see's Barbara Hunter in the office and Barbara tells her that David will take her to court and wait for her.  Kate says she would rather face it alone.  Barbara says she knows, but she did it for David as much as for her.
 
Sharon Metcalfe tells Ashley that he got thrown off the course because he is too soft and now he is trying to prove them wrong.  Reg Lamont asks Sharon to leave him and Ashley alone for a moment, so Sharon leaves the room.  Ashley tells Reg not to try and talk him out of it.  Reg says he wasn't going to, he just wanted to ask him not to tell his mother the truth because it is going to break her.
 
David Hunter returns to the office alone and Barbara asks him what happened at court.  David tells her that Kate pleaded guilty to manslaughter and the trial has been set for the new year.
 
Reg and Ashley Lamont prepare to leave for the police station, and Sharon begs Ashley not to do it.  Reg tells Sharon to carry on running the garage in his absence.  "Oh and don't let David Hunter have the garage.  There's something about him that gets right up my nose," says Reg.  Reg leaves the room with Ashley, and Ashley comes back into the room to say something to Sharon but she just waves him away.
