Lucy Hamilton's french teacher, Richard Lord, arrives at the Motel for a meeting with Kate and Lucy Hamilton.  He tells Lucy that if she has any problems to telephone him.  Once Richard Lord has left the room Kate turns to Lucy and says,  "There, that wasn't too painful was it."  "No, it certainly wasn't.  Mum, do you think two sessions a week will be enough," says Lucy.
 
Denis Harper asks Meena Chaudri to come to a stock car race with him.
 
A party of four arrive early for dinner at the motel and Max Lorimer seats them in the reception foyer where they order drinks.  Diane Parker apologises to Max Lorimer and the kitchen staff for over booking.  Max says they can phone the other diners and tell them that there has been a mix up, but Diane says she didn't take a phone number.
 
Stan Harvey goes to the office to talk to David who offers him a drink.  Stan refuses and tells David that Jill insists he is getting fat.  "Well, we all get a bit solid," says David.  Stan tells him that he is going to do some running.  "Oh Stan, you'll wear yourself down," says David, in a mocking tone.  "Well tell me how you do," says David.  "Yes I will.  If I do it," says Stan.
 
Meg tells David about the overbooking in the restaurant and says that if the party of people waiting for a table realise that they are being kept waiting because of a mix up they will make mincemeat of Max Lorimer.  "And what can he do?" asks Meg.
 
Meena Chaudri tells Sharon Metcalfe that Denis Harper has asked her out. Sharon asks Meena what her parents will think but Meena tells her that she isn't going to tell them.
 
David tells Meg and Max that the name Potterton rings a bell.  "Edgbaston," says David suddenly.  "That's where they live," he adds.  David searches the phone book and finds five Potterton's listed in the Birmingham area, and one in Edgbaston.  "If you find the right one then I'll buy you a bottle of champagne," says Max Lorimer.  David dials a number.  "Hello.  Mr Potterton?  You won't remember me.  My name's Hunter, David Hunter.  It's just to confirma booking you seem to have with us.  Yes, thank you," says David, replacing the phone.  "His wedding anniversary," David tells Meg and Max.  "Oh well that's it then," says Max.  "For next month," announces David.  Max pats David's arm.  "One bottle of champers coming up," he says.
 
Meanwhile, unknown to Max, Meg and David, Diane Parker is explaining to the party of people waiting in reception, that there has been a mix up and that it is her fault.  Max Lorimer comes through into reception and on seeing Diane guesses what is happening.  He goes over to Diane and tells the party of diners that their table is ready.  Max excuses Diane and tells the guests that she is new.
 
Stan Harvey and Denis Harper go to the motel bar for a drink and Stan orders a tonic water.  He explains to Denis that he is on a diet and that he has a bet with Jill.  When Stan tells Denis that he going for a jog every lunch time Denis offers to come with him.  "Well Stan.  I can't let myself end up like you," says Denis. 
 
Diane Parker waits behind after she finishes work to apologise to Max Lorimer.  Max warns her to take a phone number the next time she takes a booking.  He grabs her under the chin and kisses her, then leaves.
 
Jim Baines wakes early one morning to meet Muriel coming home.  She tells Jim that she went to the early service at church.  "That's all there's left to do for Michael - pray," she says.
 
Mr Chaudri drives Meena into work and asks her what time he has to pick her up after work.. Meena, who has a date with Denis Harper after work, tells her father that she is going shopping with a girl friend.   
 
Diane tells Vera that she apologised to Max Lorimer and she just doesn't know which way to take him.
 
Stan Harvey tells Jim Baines that he is going to a health club.  Jim tells him that he looks alright but Stan tells him that he is going to lose some weight.  "You could do with a bit less yourself," points out Stan.  Denis Harper comes into reception from the stock car race and tells Stan and Jim that he was leading the race, then it all went wrong.  He says his car is smashed up and needs a tow.
